Our Price: £325.00 Sale Price: £240.00 You save £85.00!

Reduced Priced drums in stock!
Question: Why has this drum been reduced?
Anwser: There are minor scratches or
blemishes to the wood or wood varnish (Please see photos for a sample of
imperfections and note that we picked the drums with the most noticeable blemishes for the photos). The skins are in perfect condition.
From time to time we receive drums from our drum maker that have minor scratches or blemishes on the wood, which is simply the result of the hand made process. This does not affect the quality of sound or playability of the instrument in any way, and the blemishes are only really noticeable under close scrutiny. We are therefore offering a few drums at a greatly reduced price. For those who are not so fussy about appearance this is your chance to grab a bargain.
What makes these drums so different from other Chöd damarus in the marketplace?
- The sound is unsurpassed!
- Each drum is created using accurate and traditional centuries old methods.
- Only natural unpainted Bhutanese cloud skins are used. The skins are buried in the ground with copper and other precious substances. This process can take many weeks to
complete and the skins turn a beautiful cloudy green. It
increases the longevity of the skins and also empowers them for years
of ritual use. It also gives each drum its own unique character.
- The skins will maintain their tightness, unlike the more readily available Nepalese skins in the marketplace.
- On the inside of the drum accurate mantras are applied, this empowers the drum to be used for ritual practice.
- Each drum has a suede or leather handle which helps give comfortable support when playing for long periods.
- Cowrie shells are also stitched into the band that wraps round the drum.
- Includes a high quality brocade damaru tail.
- Includes a very fine brocade carrying case which helps protect the drum when not in use. Each case is lined with red felt, which helps absorb moisture.
Tips:
- It is important to look after your sacred instrument. In order to increase the longevity of your drum skin, it is recommended that you gently rub a small amount of lanolin oil into the skin from time to time.
- Keep your drum in a dry environment to help maintain skin tightness. A cold damp room should be avoided if possible. Bringing your drum into a warm environment will naturally tighten the skin.
Origin of materials: Bhutanese Sengdeng Wood and Natural Bhutanese skins
Drum Size: 8 to 9 inches
Each drum is hand made and therefore unique, so please expect variations in the colour and grain of the wood. The colour of the brocade damaru tail and carrying case may also vary between drums. However, all are finished to the same high standard and quality of materials.
