The Chod Drum is a large double-sided hand held drum. 'Chod' literally means 'cutting' or 'destroying'; and Chod practice is a method of Puja and meditation for offering one's own body to cut away the four demons within. Machik Labdron received the chod teachings from her Indian guru, Padampa Sangye and also from Kyoton Sonam Lama and propagated them in Tibet.
This is our largest drum and measures approx 10 inches in diameter and 11.5 cms wide.
Finished to a very high standard in Himalayan Sengdeng (Acacia) wood. They are light weight and easy to handle. All drums come complete with a fine silk brocade tail and a traditional brocade carrying case. We strive very hard to bring you quality products which are needed by practitioners. These are the best chod drums we have seen on our buying trips. The skin should maintain its tightness unlike many other drums in the marketplace.
Please note that your Chod drum will come with our newly designed cloud brocade carrying case (see second photo). These cases have much finer stitching and the case is generally more secure. The case flap has added velcro which helps protect the drum and keeps the case looking neat at all times.
