A bow shaped stone bead of rare appearance and size. It has been suggested that this is a close grained chlorite schist with a band of quartz. This bead is in perfect condition. It was originally purchased strung with ancient Pyu beads. Since this is the only example we have seen of a bow shaped bead being made from this material, it is very difficult to say whether this is genuinely ancient. However, large bow shaped agate beads have certainly been found in Burma. Whether it was originally from Burma or was traded from elsewhere is unknown. It is a very handsome one of a kind bead.

Ancient Agate Stone Bead Necklace

An instant collection of wonderful ancient stone beads. This necklace has a nice variety of ancient banded agates, which were sourced in Nepal but probably originated in Afghanistan. The huge hard stone focal bead has been incised with what appears to be the cuneiform script (the meaning on this bead is unknown). This script was in use in Western Asia from around the 4th Millenium BCE to the 1st Century CE. The stone appears to be much harder than steatite so may be a variety of serpentine. There are some very colourful agates on this strand and one bead appears to be a damaged ancient Phum dZi. Many beads display a surface worn smooth from possibly hundreds of years of close contact to the body. A great group of beads!

A huge stone pendant in the form of a four sided stake. Four eyes or circles are engraved on each side. The stone is opaque but when held to a strong light the colour appears much lighter and the green colour is more visible.

A good size 27 bead hand mala comprised of completely natural undyed Lapis Lazuli. This is the finest AAA grade Afghanistan Lapis that we have been able to source in recent years. These beads are not to be confused with lesser grade material or dyed Lapis beads. Our supplier can no longer source this quality so grab them while you can. This is the only hand mala in this size and grade that we will offer.

It has been strung with strong blue mala cord to match the beads. The cord is not elasticated so this is not designed to be worn on the wrist. When not in use these beads can be kept in a mala bag, which we will also include. 27 bead malas are much more discreet than the 108 bead mala and they are also very helpful to use when counting prostrations.

The larger guru bead has calcite inclusions and some of the beads displays flecks of gold pyrite. The tassle also includes a natural red coral bead and silver vajra.
