|

SOLD!
An incredible antique authentic coral mala with beads that span possibly hundreds of years. The mala is comprised of natural red coral and they vary slightly in size and shape. Old Bodhiseed Mala with Turquoise Dividers
|
|
|

SOLD!
A really special old Bodhiseed mala. There are 107 Bodhiseed beads plus 1 single conch shell bead which makes up the 108. The conch is very old and matched with the Bodhiseed in size. It is quite normal for seeds to be replaced with other beads if they become lost or they break. It is also considered acceptable to use a mala as long as it has 100 or more seeds. It has a wonderful feel to it and a patina on the seeds that only develops from millions of mantra recitations over many decades. It includes three very nice quality genuine turquoise dividers. The three kaya guru bead is comprised of an antique conch bead, an antique red coral and a lapis lazuli bead. Om (enlightened body) is represented by the conch, Ah (enlightened speech) is the red coral and Hung (enlightened mind) is the blue lapis. Om Ah Hung! The three part guru bead is recommended by Guru Rinpoche as part of the correct ritual use of a mala (see Generating the deity by Gyatrul Rinpoche). It has been re-strung on a 5 coloured braided rainbow cord. The seed measures approx 7 mm width and 9 mm diamater. They are worn smooth from millions of mantra recitations.

A rare mala comprised of very sought after natural red coral. It is strung with a very nice agate eye guru bead. The three dividers are made from Mother of Pearl. After the 21st bead there is an additional genuine amber bead to act as a marker. Malas made from this quality of coral are extremely scarce and highly prized by Tibetans. We only manage to aquire one or two complete malas every few years. This is not to be confused with the many dyed alternatives currently available in the marketplace. This is the real thing!

SOLD OUT!
These Nepalese Bodhiseed 'eye' beads are amongst the rarest and most difficult to source. Each seed has the formation of a natural eye and we are told that they only grow in one region of Nepal. Unlike other Bodhiseed malas in the marketplace, these beads have not been shaped or dyed. Seeds that are completely natural and untreated are considered to be the very best for practice. The smallest uniform seeds are the most sought after and command the highest prices. On average a fully developed seed will grow to around 12 mm (hole to hole) and often much larger, which is why
the smaller seeds (10 mm and less) are scarce and very sought after. The majority of seeds in the marketplace have been shaped and polished to make them smaller. These are the best natural seeds we have been able to find.
With regular use Bodhiseed will turn darker and develop a wonderful usage patina. They are considered to be the most appropriate mala to use for all types of Vajrayana practice.
This mala is comprised of 108 beads plus the Guru bead. The natural colour of the seed may vary slightly.
Only 10 mm seeds currently available. Beads are measured from hole to hole.
Colour of tassle may vary.
Please expect natural variations in each seed.
We stock a large range of more affordable Bodhiseed malas here.
