A lovely medium size hand painted thangka that was recently aquired as part of a private Tibetan collection. This thangka is based on the first of a series of paintings that provide support for those studying Tibetan healing and medicine. The Tibetan medical text it illustrates is known as the 'Blue Beryl'. The central palace of the Medicine Buddha is the sacred site where the science of medicine is transmitted. The Gods and the Hindu deities can be seen receiving teachings. Also present are Bodhisattvas, yogis and yoginis and Buddhist devotees. Each class of beings receives teachings appropriate to his or her own level of understanding.

Framed in the traditional manner.
