RARE JADE MILAREPA RUPA
Our Price: £300.00

A rare nephrite jade Milarepa statue that is based on a known antique piece. Carved entirely by hand it is a one off piece that you will not find in any other store. Stone statues of Tibetan deities and lamas are particularly hard to source. The jade material was selected from Canada and then shipped to Thailand where it was especially carved. The actual nephrite jade used in this piece is from the same source as the jade used to craft the famous 2.7 metre high Jade Buddha for World Peace.

Milarepa was famous for his spontaneous songs of realisation. During his 12 years of strict retreat he subsisted on nettle tea and eventually it turned his skin green. This is the reason he is often depicted as being green in colour and therefore a green stone carving is particularly appropriate.
