Our Japanese incense ingredients are 100% natural and include wood powders, plants, spices and essential oils. These are mixed together with a plant based gel and water. The resulting paste is then pressed into a mould out of which the sticks are cut up, dried and packaged.

Makko powder is a much prized traditional ingredient in Japanese incense making. It can also be used as a base to burn resins and powders instead of using charcoal discs. Makko means 'incense powder' and comes form the Machillus thunbergi tree which is an evergreen native to Sout East Asia.

Makko powder is a water soluble adhesive base and can be used for making both incense sticks and cones. It is highest quality grade and burns easily and is almost completely odourless. It is wonderful as a base for adding to other mixes of loose Sang, powder blends and resin.
