Product Code: SRB-ARTS-TAKYAB8

Description

A traditional Tibetan Takyab or pack animal decorative head cover. This Takyab was probably used on the lead animal of Yak train. It has an eye-like design that is crafted from braided wool and is also backed with a separate fabric mount. It is perhaps meant to be an abstract Tiger face. These covers were also believed to bless the animal at the lead of the train, so that all journeys were accomplished without obstacles. The overall condition is mostly very good with minor weathering commensurate with age.

Origin: Collected in Tibet in the 1980s and part of the Stone Routes Collection.
15 inches x 14 inches
