A miniature Vajarayana painting that would be known in Mongolia as a " burhany zurag". This piece represents the female deity Sitatapatra, the White Umbrella Goddess who saves from all harm. Small paintings such as this would have been kept on a shrine or worn in a gau as part of a personal protective amulet. This is a larger  than normal Burhany Zurag and the detail is particuarly clear. The reverse has the Tibetan characters Om Ah Hung written in red, this normally shows that a piece has been consecrated.

Origin: Mongolia
Condition: Very good with minor weathering.
Age: Mid 19th Century to Early 20th Century
height = 9 inches
width = 7 inches
