A very nice miniature Vajarayana painting that would be known in Mongolia as a " burhany zurag".  This piece represents the Great Bodhisattva of Wisdom known as Manjushri or Jampalyang. Small paintings such as this would have been kept on a shrine or worn in a gau as part of a personal protective amulet. Pieces such as this were typically worn in a gau as a protective amulet or kept inside a small traveling shrine.

Origin: Mongolia
Condition: Good with some weathering.
Mineral pigments on Cloth.
Age: Mid 19th Century to Early 20th Century
