A miniature Vajarayana painting that would be known in Mongolia as a "burhany zurag".

This piece represents the Buddha of the Western direction and head of the lotus family, Buddha Amitabha. Small paintings such as this would have been kept on a shrine or worn in a gau as part of a personal protective amulet. This piece has suffered quite a bit of weathering, however, it still commands a special presence.

Origin: Mongolia
Condition: OK with a fair bit of weathering and loss of paint.
Age: Mid 19th Century to Early 20th Century
