Description

A great looking antique Tibetan eating set from Amdo in North East Tibet. Traditionally worn on a belt, eating utensils were easily carried and always at hand. The blade is also engraved with a dragon motif. Comparable sets were also popular with the equestrian cultures of North China and Mongolia.

These sets were also prized as objects for personal adornment and were therefore viewed as functional items of jewellery. This meant that the most ornate sets were often an indication of wealth and status within the community.
