Description

A collection of hand beaten Tibetan silver spoons with suspension hoops. One is nicely engraved with a lotus motif in the bowl with the stem of the lotus moves up the handle. The largest spoon has an engraved line and dot decoration on the handle. These are wonderful examples that are now very hard to find. Displaying a patina commensurate with age.

Spoons were prized tools used for eating and also for taking medicinal remedies as silver was considered to have special antiseptic properties. The silver itself may have been heirloomed within a family for many centuries before it was eventually used in the making of a spoon or other utensils. It means a spoon may once have started life as several pieces of silver jewellery.
